The intellect is not higher than the will


  1. The perversion of the higher faculty is worse, other things being equal.
  2. Moral wrongdoing is worse than error, other things being equal.
  3. Moral wrongdoing is the perversion of the will.
  4. Error is the perversion of the intellect.
  5. So, the intellect is not higher than the will.

What does "higher" mean in this argument?

What exactly does "perversion" mean in this argument? While error is something to be avoided, it strikes me as odd to refer to errors as perversions.
