One could say something really cool about how rock climbing involves solving problems where one's own self is a crucial part of the problem and the solutions therefore must differ from person to person. But that would be stretching things.

Csikszentmihalyi (the "flow" dude) started his list ofautotelic activities with rock climbing and chess in one paper.
"Flowy" is how climbers describe a good route.
